Stainless Steel Storage Tanks
Detailed design, construction and installation of 5 stainless steel storage tanks with a capacity of 750 m³ each, completed in just 5 months thanks to an integrated strategy of off-site prefabrication and on-site assembly.

The challenge
The construction site was located just 10 km from MM Construction’s operational headquarters, but with particularly tight timelines, 5 months to complete all 5 tanks, and limited space available on site. A combination that required a different organisational approach than simply “building on site.”
From the workshop to the site
To optimise time and resources, MM Construction opted for prefabrication: the vertical calender with decoiler and the automatic circumferential welding machine were set up directly in the workshop, making it possible to build the tanks in modules approximately 4 metres high, 8 modules per tank, 40 in total.
Once completed, the modules were transported by road at night using abnormal load transport (3-4 modules per night) and assembled on site with the help of a dedicated crane. Welding operations at height, at around 4 metres, were carried out safely thanks to fixed scaffolding set up specifically for this purpose.
Working simultaneously on two fronts, production in the workshop and assembly on site, made it possible to maintain a continuous operational flow, minimising the use of the site’s limited space.
